So I was having a little think of all the photography jobs i've done whilst i've been at uni and i found a bunch of club photo's taken for a new dubstep night at a pub in Bath called the 'Porter'. I was so nervous when walking into the club, but luckily i knew the DJ and was able to take a couple of crowd shots, and he gave me an idea of what he wanted from me (for the images to be bright and enticing, have a feel of the night to them and be easy to tag people on facebook for promotional purposes).
It was my first insight to club photography and i realised that if you dont have the full equipment (flashgun etc) you could end up looking like a weirdo just taking pictures of the crowd. In the end I decided I would only do another club night if I could get paid a fair amount (that covers any likely spillage of liquid over my equipment) and to build my confidence in those sort of scenarios!

Project 3: A Day in the life of...
OK. so in this brief we were told we had to tell the story of someone (a day in their life) in a photo montage of 6 images. I chose to follow my friend Sam Jenkins who is studying music at Bath Spa and photograph him playing in town as a busking musician!
This brief continued over the christmas holidays so i also decided to simultaneously cover a day in the life of a camel herder! Both photo narratives worked really well but it just took ages trying to figure out the correct order (and once i was back in bath there was no way of re-shooting the camel images again!!) I actually really enjoyed this project!

Project 1: Analogue Portrait
For this brief we had to use analogue cameras to photograph someone in a way that converys their personality. This had two main issues; 1- i was still getting to know everyone (although i really got along with a girl on my course who i ended up choosing for this project) and 2- I'd never been in a dark room before, let alone developed my own film! It was fun all round and Emma and I ended up having such a laugh doing the shoot. Here are some of the pics and a copy of my contact sheet! x
First look at Bath University Life!
So on our very first day at Uni we visited Cosham, which is a small village on the outskirts of Bath. Its where the old campus for Art and Design used to be in this beautiful old mansion! Theres also this courtyard where Harry Potter was films (i squeeled when i found out). The architecture of the buildings really interested me and before i knew it id focused all of my images from that day on stange bits of the buildings!?
During the first month we also visited London for the day to go to the V&A museum and the Michael Hoppen Gallery. I met this lovely man in the streets of Chelsea collecting money for the Poppy association
University Stalking!
When Daddy Ashworth came back to England we thought we'd better check out the Uni's I'd applied to, so we went down to Cornwall to see what Falmouth Uni was like and seeing all the beautiful coastline i thought it would be a good idea to try out some more HDR.
Down to Devon
Well while I visited my grannie in Devon i was able to take a couple of pictures of the carnival that happens once a year in the small seaside town where she lives. I love watching all the kiddies get dressed up, its so cute!
Teignmouth is also the birthplace of MUSE, and since they've found fame and fortune Teignmouth holds a small festival to celebrate the end of the carnival and to see if any other bands will make it big in the future. This years headliners were 'RUDE TIGER' and they played brilliantly!
Bali
So once again Daddy Ashworth decided to take us on a whirlwind tour.. this time of Bali. It was stunning! I have never visited so many picturesque landscapes in such a short amount of time. Had a go at some crazy fishing and a bit of surfing! Since my trip to Kerela (India) for Eid last year I took every opportunity i was given to take some pictures of the locals. Their lifestyle is so completely different to those in Thailand or Dubai... it could really be something I'd focus on in the future.
My first attempt at HDR, not bad for a beginner. You take the same image 5 times, each at a different exposure stop, then overlap them using photoshop and the image is brought to life showing a range of colours that wouldn't be shown in a normal image.
